CAPE TOWN:
With Table Mountain – one of the most spiritual places on earth – at its heart and two oceans at its feet, the city of Cape Town, strategically situated at the south-western tip of Africa, has been famed for centuries as the Tavern of the Seas. Vibrant, cosmopolitan and an eclectic mix of old and new, this laid-back city is as much at home with its 17th century castle – whose cannons have never been fired in anger – as it is with its sleek skyscrapers and trendy malls. Home to South Africa’s first mosque, oldest wine farm, a 350-year-old garden and timelessly beautiful beaches, it’s no surprise the legendary Flying Dutchman and his spectral ship have spent eternity sailing the city’s shores.
&Beyond Phinda Private Game Reserve:
Described as “Seven Worlds of Wonder”, &Beyond Phinda encompasses an impressive 56,800 acres of prime Big Five wilderness in KwaZulu-Natal. This Reserve comprises seven distinct habitats – from dry sand forest to wetland systems and mountain ranges. Catch a glimpse of the shy suni antelope, track rhino in the bushveld, observe breeding herds of elephant in fever tree forests, hold your breath as a cheetah teaches her cubs to hunt, glide past hippo on the Mzinene River and marvel at the gracious nyala. Phinda is home to more than 3 000 of these rare antelope.

Our Accommodation
Cape Town: Vineyard Hotel
The gracious Vineyard Hotel combines its historical origins with modern elements. All suites have courtyard or mountain-facing views, ensuite bathrooms, air-conditioning, internet access, personal bars, satellite television and in-room robes. The two outstanding restaurants – the Square, a great favorite for breakfast and dinner and Myoga Restaurant; run by well-known executive chef Mike Bassett, renowned for his contemporary fusion-style cooking. We love the central location of this hotel – it’s within easy walking distance of the upmarket Cavendish Shopping Centre and is just fifteen minutes away from the city centre and the popular Victoria & Alfred Waterfront!
Safari: &Beyond Phinda Mountain Lodge
&Beyond Phinda Private Game Reserve is known for its abundant wildlife, diversity of habitats and wide range of safari activities. Thanks to its coastal rainfall pattern, the Reserve enjoys a lush green environment that contains seven distinct ecosystems. &Beyond Phinda is often referred to as ‘Seven Worlds of Wonder.’ This fascinating variety of landscape and vegetation shelters an abundance of wildlife, including not only the Big Five but many rarer and less easily spotted species, such as the elusive cheetah or the scarce black rhino. With only a handful of lodges sharing an area of 28,555 hectares, and expert rangers and trackers in search of prime wildlife sightings, guests are assured an exclusive game viewing experience. Adding to Phinda’s wildlife charms, the marine diversity of nearby Sodwana Bay on the coast is easily accessible, with scuba diving, fishing and even turtle watching only some of the adventures available from Phinda.

Welcome to South Africa! Upon arrival at Cape Town International Airport (CPT), you will be met by a FloYo representative who will transfer you to The Vineyard Hotel.

We will start our day with a yoga class and breakfast then depart for a full day of exploring Cape Town. This full-day tour takes in the scenic highlights of the Cape Peninsula, beginning at the spectacular coastal suburb of Hout Bay, a former fishing village with a long, sandy beach facing a bay framed by the mountains. Explore the restaurants, shops and markets of Mariner’s Wharf, a harbour-front emporium with a distinct maritime ambiance. Depending on whether the road is open, the tour will continue along the breath-taking Chapman’s Peak Drive before heading to the Cape of Good Hope to explore the nature reserve, see the Diaz Cross and perhaps even indulge in lunch at a local restaurant. From here you will travel to Simon’s Town, famous for its naval military base, and then visit the charming penguin colony at Boulders Beach. The tour ends at the beautiful Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, set against the eastern slopes of spectacular Table Mountain.
-
Today we will explore the gorgeous South African winelands! We will begin with a half day Bike and Wine tour in Franschhoek. This half-day guided bicycle tour, starting at 9 am and ending at 2 pm, is rated “easy” and covers 8-12 km with some gentle inclines, mostly flat with short hills. After a fun introduction and orientation we make our way to farms first cultivated by the French Huguenots back in 1688. This fascinating tour highlights the history of the area as well as the natural flora and fauna. We stop at the Huguenot Memorial and then weave our way to vineyards which are steeped in tradition but also showcase innovative ideas to viniculture such as Mont Rochelle owned by Sir Richard Branson. We will have lunch in Franschoek (lunch not included) then return to hotel after tasting wine at several local vineyards.
